At Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Memphis, a partner of Methodist Healthcare, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Serving Memphis and the metro area, we are a leading provider of inpatient rehabilitation for stroke, brain injury and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.
Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.
Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.
Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

Chief Executive Officer
Toni graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy and began her clinical career at Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth immediately following graduation. She worked as a staff therapist and team lead until she was promoted to director of therapy operations in 1998. Toni received her certification in the treatment of adults with hemiplegia through the Neuro-Developmental Treatment Association in 1997.
Dr. Leicht joined our team in December 2015 as the medical director of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Memphis, a partner of Methodist Healthcare, formerly HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Memphis. She holds a bachelor's degree from McGill University and a medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. She completed residency in PMR at the University of Minnesota Hospitals and clinics in Minneapolis, Minn. Dr. Leicht is board-certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She is also a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Leicht has professional affiliations with American Medical Association and American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She has more than 30 years of experience in her field including assistant clinical professor of PMR at University of Michigan.

Director of Therapy Operations
Michelle graduated from Belmont University in 2015 with a doctorate degree in occupational therapy. Upon graduation, Michelle began her occupational therapy career at Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth. She has worked as a staff occupational therapist and team lead until she was promoted to director of therapy operations in 2019. Michelle is dedicated, compassionate, empathetic, and a life-long learner. She strives to provide the best practice for her patients in order to help them achieve their goals and live their life to the fullest.
Memphis Area Director of Pharmacy
Dr. Andrews joined Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth in 2007 and serves as the director of pharmacy for both Memphis hospitals, Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Memphis, a partner of Methodist Healthcare and Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Memphis, a partner of Methodist Healthcare. He attended Tennessee State University for undergraduate training and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center where he received his doctorate of pharmacy in 2001. Beginning his career as an intern at a local pharmacy, he later became managing pharmacist and continued on to hospital practice a few years later. His practice experience includes retail pharmacy, neonatal intensive care, pediatric oncology ambulatory care and general hospital practice, all in Memphis, Tenn.
Business Development Director
Kae joined Encompass Health Memphis, formerly HealthSouth Memphis in January 2018 with more than nine years of healthcare marketing experience. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Troy University and a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Grambling State University.
Director of Health Information Management
Annette holds a bachelor’s degree in health information management from the University of Tennessee – Memphis and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. Annette has 22 years experience in the health information management field and is a Registered Health Information Management Administrator (RHIA).
Eric graduated from University of Missouri –St. Louis in 2009 with his bachelor’s degree in accounting. He arrived at Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth in 2010, and has been part of the team ever since; being promoted to accountant in 2011 and controller/CFO in the spring of 2013.
Director of Plant Operations
Shon joined Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth Memphis as the director of plant operations in 2018 with more than eight years of experience in facilities and plant operations and safety. In addition to serving as the director of plant operations, he serves as the safety officer, and manages the environmental and facility services departments. He is experienced in several other areas of incident and emergency response as well as construction and facilities management. Shon’s goal at Encompass Health is to create and maintain an efficient, safe and comfortable environment in our hospital as well as contribute daily to the quality outcomes that we provide for our patients as our team seeks to return them to the highest level of independence possible when they leave Encompass Health.
Director of Quality/Risk Management
Cindi serves Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth as the director of quality and risk management. She joined Encompass Health with over 38 years in the nursing field and over 20 years in healthcare leadership. Cindi graduated from the State University of New York with an associate degree in nursing. Prior to joining the Encompass Health team, she worked in pediatrics, neurology, pulmonary, oncology and infectious disease. Cindi has been a part of the Encompass Health team for more than 17 years.
Chief Nursing Officer
Rachel is the chief nursing officer for Encompass Health Memphis. She brings more than 10 years of nursing leadership experience from Methodist Lebonheur Healthcare. Rachel holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Baptist College of Health Sciences in Memphis and a Master of Science in nursing and health administration from University of Phoenix.
Human Resources Director
Sandra has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare and human resources. She began her career at Methodist University where she worked for 10 years and has been a part of the Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth team every since. She graduated from the University of Memphis with a bachelor’s degree in management and holds a master's degree in management from Colorado Technical University.
Case Management Director
Tywanda joined Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth in June 2017 with more than 20 years of hospital administration and clinical social work experience. She brings a broad range of knowledge in behavior health, case management, utilization review and hospital administration experience. Tywanda holds a master’s degree in social work from Eastern Michigan University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
