At Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Morgantown, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Located in Morgantown and serving the surrounding area including Fairmont and Uniontown, we are a leading provider of inpatient rehabilitation for stroke, brain injury and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.
Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.
Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.
Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

Chief Executive Officer
Mark Rader has 26 years of health care experience, including 16 years of CEO leadership. He earned his master’s degree in health administration from Duke University and his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Radford University. In addition, he has served on the board of directors for numerous public and private organizations.
Medical Director
Dr. Mowery is coming to us after serving as medical director at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem, VA where she practiced since 2000. During this time she also served as the subacute director at Salem Health and Rehab and maintained a private practice with hospital affiliation. Prior to her work at Lewis-Gale, she served as the out-patient rehab director at St. Fancis Hospital in Topeka, Kansas and various other medical assignments as well as serving as the secretary for occupational medical physicians of Kansas. Dr. Mowery is board certified in PM&R and specializes in needle guided EMG Chemodennervation, comprehensive migraine management, occipital never blocks/supraorbital nerve blocks, fluoroscopy lumbar spinal facet injections, hip joint injections, aquatics for FMS/OA and spine, and movement disorders.
Dr. Mowery is an independent private practice physician.
Business Development Director
Ashley brings a considerable amount of healthcare management expertise to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital, formerly HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital. A West Virginia native, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in health and human performance from West Virginia University School of Medicine where she also received a master’s degree in occupational therapy. Ashley has increased her management attributes throughout her career, while filling the roles of director of marketing, director of occupational therapy, and business owner at Gold Key Occupational Therapy.
Director of Quality and Risk Management
Sheena Martin was named director of quality and risk management in March of 2018. She started her career in quality management at Mylan Pharmaceuticals as senior chemist, senior technical training specialist and lastly, as the project manager for an error prevention program. Sheena received her bachelor’s degree in biology and her master’s degree in science education from West Virginia University.
Director of Case Management
Lisa was named the director of case management at the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Morgantown in December of 2019. Lisa brings more than 25 years of experience in healthcare industry specializing in the fields of social work and case management. She is an active member of the American Case Management Association, National Association of Social Workers and the West Virginia Rural Health Association. Lisa earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and her master’s degree in social work from West Virginia University.
Director of Human Resources
Marty was named director of human resources in November of 2019. He brings more than 29 years of diverse human resources experience to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Morgantown. In his field, Marty has engaged in high level strategic planning for all functions of human resources. In addition, he has specialized in organizational development and effectiveness, workforce/succession planning, employee engagement, performance management and talent acquisition.
Chief Nursing Officer
Diana brings more than 39 years of nursing experience to the role of chief nursing officer. She received her nursing diploma from Ohio Valley General Hospital in Wheeling, W.V., her bachelor’s degree in nursing from West Liberty University and her master’s degree organizational leadership from Geneva College in Beaver, Pennsylvania. She is a board certified nurse executive who has clinical and leadership experience in the areas of medical surgical nursing, critical care, oncology, skilled and long term care and emergency department/disaster preparedness. In addition, Diana has leadership experience in areas of patient throughput, special projects and other patient support services.
Director of Therapy Operations
Tom Porto was named director of therapy operations in Oct. 2018. Prior to this position, he served as director of care management for the hospital since 2017. Tom began his career with Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth, in 2001 as a physical therapist for Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Morgantown. In 2009, he advanced to the senior physical therapist role. In 2014, Tom was promoted to a therapy manager role for Encompass Health Largo. Throughout his career, Tom has constantly developed his skills in clinical leadership. Tom received his bachelor’s degree in human biology and his master’s degree in physical therapy from Marquette University.
Controller
Diana was named controller of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Morgantown in 2019. She received her accounting degree from Cleveland State University and is a Certified Management Accountant. Starting as an auditor for the Department of Defense before entering the private sector, Diana has more than 25 years’ experience. She has been in healthcare for the past 4 years.
