Feb. 4, 2025 – Encompass Health Chief Medical Officer Dr. Elissa “Lisa” Charbonneau has been named among Women We Admire’s Top 50 Women Leaders in Healthcare for 2026. The recognition highlights her leadership in advancing clinical quality and patient outcomes across the Company’s 173 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals.
Dr. Charbonneau oversees all clinical quality functions and plays a key role on the executive leadership team, guiding nursing, therapy, pharmacy, case management, quality and medical services. She leads national clinical committees, directs the Quality Reporting Program and collaborates closely with operations, risk management and the Company’s eight operating regions.
Throughout her tenure, Dr. Charbonneau has driven initiatives that have strengthened patient care and improved systemwide performance. She is a champion for clinician development and supports professional growth across nursing, therapy, pharmacy and case management. She is also an active thought leader, presenting nationally and serving on advisory boards and committees focused on post acute quality and patient safety.
