Encompass Health opens 2026 therapy grant application period

Encompass Health today announced the opening of its 2026 call for therapy grant applications, providing up to $75,000 in total funding for research to advance the science and effectiveness of inpatient rehabilitation care. Applications open June 1 and must be submitted by Oct. 31 at 5 p.m. ET.

Through its grant program, Encompass Health aims to expand the body of evidence supporting rehabilitation care, with a particular focus on improving outcomes for patients with neurological conditions such as stroke, brain injury and spinal cord injury. Research must focus on the impact and delivery of rehabilitation services in the inpatient rehabilitation facility setting, as well as implementation science and knowledge translation. Priority areas for funding include studies on therapy intensity and outcomes, interdisciplinary care approaches, patient and caregiver education, and innovations that enhance patient outcomes and experiences in rehabilitation settings.

Applications will be evaluated based on scientific merit, relevance to program objectives and feasibility, with final selections made by Encompass Health’s Grant Selection Committee and Corporate Clinical Research Committee. Research must be conducted in the United States or Puerto Rico and completed within 12 months of the grant award. Grant recipients do not have to be affiliated with Encompass Health, and research does not have to be conducted in an Encompass Health inpatient rehabilitation hospital.

The Encompass Health therapy grant program underscores the Company’s ongoing commitment to advancing evidence-based care and improving the quality of life for patients recovering from complex medical conditions.
