At Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital The Vintage, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. We serve the greater Houston area as a leading provider of inpatient rehabilitation for stroke, cardiac conditions and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.
Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.
Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.
Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

Chief Executive Officer
Krista brings more than 20 years of healthcare experience to Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth, The Vintage. She has been with Encompass Health since 2012 as the CEO of Encompass Health The Woodlands and transitioned to Encompass Health The Vintage in 2015. During her career, Krista has taken on several progressive roles within the acute rehabilitation hospital setting encompassing all aspects of operations within the rehabilitation environment. She graduated from Moorhead State University in her native state of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in social work.
Director of Plant Operations
Howard is responsible for the plant operations management of Encompass Health The Vintage, formerly HealthSouth The Vintage, including all aspects of EOC compliance planning, facility equipment purchasing/maintenance/certification, building repairs, maintenance and environmental services. He is also responsible for scheduled drills, implemented emergency management plan and coordinated federal grant allocations for emergency preparedness (HRSA). He is the designated safety/security officer charged with regulatory compliance with TJC, TDH, OSHA and FEMA.
Chief Nursing Officer
Jose joined Encompass Health The Vintage, formally known as HealthSouth The Vintage, in 2017 and serves as the chief nursing officer. In his role, he is accountable for nursing operations, clinical nutrition, respiratory services and infection control. Prior to joining Encompass Health, he served as the administrative director of medical-surgical services at an acute-care hospital in the local area. He is a nurse leader who brings more than 18 years of successful experience in a variety of settings including acute-care hospitals, long-term care, home healthcare and outpatient clinics. Jose holds a master’s degree in nursing leadership and administration of health care systems from Excelsior College. In addition, he is certified in medical-surgical and rehabilitation nursing.
Ramona brings more than 14 years of nursing experience to the PASC role. Her experience includes sub-acute, long term care and rehabilitation in PPS/MDS and wound care. Prior to her PASC role, Ramona worked as a team lead nurse at a state school facility. Her knowledge, leadership and teaching experience make her a valued asset to the Encompass Health The Vintage leadership team.
Director of Quality & Risk Management
Lena joined Encompass Health The Vintage in 2016 as the director of quality & risk management. She has extensive healthcare experience and has devoted most of her practice for the last thirty years to oncology, cardiology, hospice and clinical research. She has enjoyed working in both the acute care and not-for-profit sector in various leadership positions. Lena is passionate about performance improvement, safety and enriching the patient experience. She originally received her nursing degree in Sweden and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of Houston-Victoria.
Area Business Development Director
Jessica Ruelas has been the current area business development director at Encompass Health the Vintage since 2019. Jessica is from Morgan City, Louisiana, and calls Texas home since 2014. Jessica brings over 20 years of healthcare experience. Jessica joined Encompass Health in 2015 formerly known as HealthSouth. She began her career as a liaison moving up to the role of senior liaison in the Central Texas market. She attended LSU and worked in EMS for 10+ years both on land and offshore. Through her passion and empathetic spirit for people and an entrepreneurial drive, Jessica has worked in multiple healthcare arenas.
Director of Case Management
Jodie Smith serves as the director of case management. She is a registered nurse and an accredited case manager who joined Encompass Health in 2017. Bringing more than 27 years of healthcare experience to the team, Jodie has experience in multiple healthcare settings including, short term acute care, long term acute care and behavioral health. In her role, she leads a team of case managers that collaborates with patients and families to help them reach their optimal level of wellness by coordinating resources to promote safety, quality of care and cost-effective outcomes.
Director of Therapy Operations
Jonathan has worked at Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth since 2013 as an occupational therapist and as a therapy team leader. He is a licensed occupational therapist (OTR) who attended the University of Central Arkansas where he received his bachelor’s degree in health science and Master of Science in occupational therapy.
Director of Human Resources
Keisha brings more than 16 years of diverse human resources experience to the Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth. Prior to joining the Encompass Health, her most recent experience was at an acute-care, physician owned hospital in the local area. She received her bachelor’s degree in human resources management from Columbia Southern University. In her role as director of human resources, she enjoys being an employee advocate, change agent and a strategic business partner. In addition, she enjoys helping to recruit, retain and develop a talented and diverse workforce to make sure Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospitals are the employer and healthcare provider of choice in her community. Keisha also holds her Professional Human Resources (PHR) certification.
Jason joined HealthSouth in July of 2010 as controller at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital The Woodlands and transferred to HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital The Vintage in November 2015 after HealthSouth purchased Reliant Rehab Partners. He comes to HealthSouth with a bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and more than 19 years of accounting experience. Jason's knowledge base is wide, ranging from retail accounting to pharmaceutical financial management to managing a team of accountants and financial analysts for a healthcare company. His broad knowledge base, excellent education and analytical perspective have made him an asset to the team.
