At Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Located in Alexandria, we are a leading provider of inpatient rehabilitation for stroke and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.
Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.
Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.
Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

Chief Executive Officer
Dave has worked in the acute and post-acute healthcare fields in various leadership capacities spanning over 30 years. Before coming to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria as CEO, he served as a Regional Vice President for Select Medical Corporation (LTACH).
Dr. Dhulipala has been the medical director at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria, formerly HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria, since 1994. Prior to coming to Encompass Health, Dr. Dhulipala served as a staff physiatrist at the V. A. Hospital in Tuskegee, Alabama; the associate medical director for South Louisiana Rehabilitation Hospital in Baton Rouge; and the medical director for Franklin Foundation Hospital. He began his medical education at Kurnool Medical College in India. He completed his residency at New York Medical College in Valhalla. Dr. Dhulipala has been certified since 1990 by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Director of Therapy Operations
Vicki brings more than 20 years of rehab experience to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria, formerly HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria, where she has been employed since 1996. She graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy in 1989. Vicki also serves on the Louisiana Occupational Therapy Association Board.
Director of Case Management
Alicia Fredieu is the certified director of case management and serves as part of the senior leadership team at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria. Alicia is a licensed registered nurse. Alicia obtained her Commission for Case Manager Certification in August 2018. Alicia has more than seven years’ experience in case management. Prior to her current role, Alicia spent four years as a home health case manager and served the last year as the assistant director of nursing and advanced illness management coordinator. In her current role, Alicia acts as a patient and family advocate ensure the appropriate resources are received. As the CDCM, Alicia also focuses on census management, patient care outcomes, and oversees the interdisciplinary plan of care and the discharge planning process.
Chief Nursing Officer
Joanna Williams, RN, BSN, MSN-HCM has been the chief nursing officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria, formerly HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria, since June 2015, overseeing nursing, respiratory therapy, wound care, infection control, and dietary services.
Prior to Encompass Health, she was the director of critical care services and served in other leadership roles in the critical care service line for 22 years. She obtained an associate's degree in nursing from Louisiana State University of Alexandria, a bachelor's degree in nursing from Northwestern State University, and a Master of Science in nursing and healthcare management from Loyola State University of New Orleans, La..
Linda has been employed by Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria, formerly HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria, for a total of five years, where she has served as both controller and area controller (Alexandria/ Ruston). She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from University of Texas at Arlington, and has been a CPA for 23 years. Linda has a combined 22 years of healthcare experience in both public accounting and hospital management roles.
