At Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cypress, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Located in Cypress, we serve the greater Houston area as a leading provider of pulmonary rehabilitation, inpatient physical rehabilitation for stroke and amputation and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.
Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.
Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.
Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

Dr. Lachina has served as the medical director of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cypress, formerly HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Cypress since October 2011. He completed his medical studies at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara and completed his residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at New York Medical College.
Prior to joining HealthSouth, Dr. Lachina served as the medical director for the rehabilitation department at Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital for 22 years. He is certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is a member of the Harris County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association and American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Lachina is an independent private practice physician.
Controller
Melissa Haddox joined the Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth, team as controller in March, 2013. She is a Certified Public Accountant and has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from West Texas State University. Melissa has over 30 years of experience in healthcare and financial management. Previously, she has worked at for profit hospital corporate offices in management roles with responsibility for Medicare and Medicare reimbursement and regulatory compliance in both inpatient acute and post-acute settings.

Alex serves as the director of facility management for Encompass Health Rehabilitation of Cypress. Alex joined the Cypress team in 2018 after working nine years in facility management for an acute care hospital. He received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Baylor University in 2009. Alex is responsible for environmental services, maintenance and life safety of the hospital.

Maureen Myers is the director of pharmacy at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cypress. Maureen started her career with the company in 2013 after many years in the acute care hospital setting, long term care pharmacy and retail pharmacy. Maureen has a passion for the good works that a rehab hospital can do in giving a patient their life back.
Director of Therapy Operations
Susha serves as the director of therapy operations at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cypress. She joined Encompass Health in November 2014 as a physical therapist and was promoted to physical therapy team lead soon after. Prior to joining Encompass Health in 2014, Susha worked in various settings including acute inpatient, home health and skilled nursing. Susha has been a physical therapist since 2003 and received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Wayne State University in Michigan. She has specializations in neurological rehabilitation including C/NDT for stroke rehabilitation and LSVT BIG for Parkinson’s rehabilitation. Susha is passionate about providing exceptional patient care and returning patients to independence.

As a seasoned nurse, Roshonda has spent the past 20 years providing care across a wide spectrum of specialties. Throughout her career, she has worked in various areas of the hospital as well as the overseas arena. As a military spouse, Roshonda had the opportunity to provide education and support to the wives and families of service men as the new patient education and support program coordinator. Roshonda has worked in varies areas of the hospital, such as ICU, MS telemetry, labor and delivery and most recently, administration. It is her role as a nursing administrator that she has spent the last seven years of her career providing nursing leadership and support. Roshonda received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Texas Tech University. She went on to obtain a master’s degree in management from Troy State University as well as a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Phoenix.
